We are a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing and caring for the many abandoned and unwanted pets in the local Merced area. Our goal is to match up these wonderful animals with a home to call their own.

The Merced SPCA received its non-profit status in 1967 through Canadian immigrants Pauline Molles and Shirly Sharp. Seeing the delapodated condition the shelter was in, the two women took drastic steps in improving the old county Animal control on Belcher Avenue.
